Tuesday morning
Gracious God your mercy is everlasting. and we praise you. In gracious mercy you brought this world into being, in gracious mercy you redeemed your people through the waters and on the cross. In gracious mercy you envelop us in the Spirit. As we gather for our last day of worship and business, we all come in a different state of mind. Some of us have slept well and are refreshed and ready. Some of us have not and are now very tired. Some of us our anxious to be home, some are anxious about long journeys. Some of us have so enjoyed the experience that we are anxious about leaving. Forgive our weakness and sin since last we met. We ask that you restore bodies that have had little sleep with your restful presence and that you settle our hearts and minds to receive your word and to do your will. Amen Almighty God your gracious love works in surprising ways, liberating donkeys, men and women, cities and nations. Help us o look for where you are working and respond in obedience through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. Tuesday final worship - intercessionsAlmighty God, our business here is done, but your work through the Church goes on. Help as we reflect on this time and share it with other councils of the church. Help us to steward your resources and spread this experience widely. We ask that you sustain and help those given difficult tasks. We ask for sensitivity and patience with each other over issues still to be settled. Help us when we come across apathy and confusion about the significance of the work of this assembly. Help us not to forget that important though it is , the business of this Assembly is not the whole task of the church, still less a description of the Kingdom. In our business we have passed resolutions about some of the injustices of this world. We are a small voice which seems insignificant - but you are a big God, present and working. Sustain us as we speak. We pray for the work of this university over the conference season and in the academic year to come. We pray for the West Midlands Synod as they make preparations for this gathering next year. Most of us will soon leave this place,- encourage and energise those who have a great deal of work to do before they can go home. On Saturday we stepped aside from our normal lives help us as re-enter them. Help us to be constantly open to the leading of the Spirit, that we might better express Christ to the world. We bring these prayers in the presences and the power of the Spirit and through Jesus Christ out Lord. Amen
